Arganda Steam Train, it whistles more than it runs!

The Arganda Steam Train lets you relive the charm of the 1886 railway on a 4 km journey through the Sureste Regional Park. Aboard authentic steam locomotives and restored wooden carriages, you’ll admire original stations, antique signals, and the spectacular iron bridge over the Jarama River.

Origins of the tourist steam train

Originally nicknamed “it whistles more than it runs”, the Arganda line operated until 1953. In 1987, the non-profit Centro de Iniciativas Ferroviarias Vapor Madrid rescued the tracks and machinery, giving this industrial treasure a new life.
